| Sony Betacam SX Digital VTRs & Players Note - Betacam SX was originally developed for standard definition world-wide standard definition video news linear tape acquisition and low cost low bandwidth mastering with an MPEG-based Sony proprietary compression of about 9.5:1, and an extremely economical (for transmission and faster than real time data transfer) bit rate native recording capability of 18 Mb/s. Along with 4:2:2 sampling, Betacam SX meets or exceeds both DTV and the old analog broadcast active line counts and standards. Betacam SX studio recorders and players machines are also NTSC and PAL dual standard, with "A" series machines capable of playing back analog oxide Betacam tapes and metal particle Betacam SP tapes in either NTSC or PAL recorded formats. Due to advanced buffering, the DNW-A75, DNW-75, and DNW-A25 editing recorders became fully capable of single frame edits. You'll also find the same 59.94 fields that you saw in analog Betacam (and Betacam SP), without the dropout (due to digital error conceilment and correction). Betacam SX also converted handily to standard MPEG II streams through the SDTI-CP output option BKNW124 (discontinued), for real-time native transfer to Sony's MAV server products (discontinued) and other 3rd party servers. You can also get Betacam SX playback in the low cost J series playback units for Non-Linear or viewing applications. |

| Notes: Operates in either NTSC or PAL modes. This unit is specifically designed to perform frame accurate insert editing of MPEG II-based SX under standard RS-422A machine control and BVW protocol (works/looks just like a BVW-75 with more capability). Records and plays in (Digital) BetacamSX format and this DNW-A75 version plays back analog Betacam or Betacam SP. Betacam SX format allows maximum recording time of 194 minutes on L-cassette, and 62 minutes on S-cassette. | ||
