| Sony Digital Betacam VTRs Special Notes: See also the section on the DVW970WS Digital Betacam standard definition camcorder with optional CBKFC01 plug-in board, which, when so equipped, can provide 22.98P capture in the camcorder with pull-down on Digital Betacam. When 23.98P Digital Betacam footage from the DVW970WS camera is played back on the DVW-M2000 or DVW-2000, the output from the decks will be 59.94Hz only (23.98PsF on 59.94 with 2:3 pulldown, also meaning 23.98PsF with 2:3 pulldown for a frame rate of 29.97). The DVW-M2000 or DVW-2000 decks only record and play back 29.97 frames per second (23.98 editing and playback is not supported). Therefore, when transferring footage from these models, the pull down would have to be removed externally using 3rd party product. Digital Betacam offers 10-bit digital recording of standard definition video, using mild intra-field compression. See also Digital Betacam J Series J30 Players and HDWM Series units. |

Notes: 10-Bit Digital Betacam, with its potentially full legacy production record
aperture, and field based modest Motion J-Peg based Intra-Field compression, has been one
of the most ideal (and asked for) standard definition mastering formats. This new
DVW machine provides some new capabilities over its predecessor, the DVW-A500 and is a new
lighter weight at 51 pounds, and new smaller size at 4RU over the DVWA500 series.
You get the same 124 Minute Digital Betacam recording capability with a Large Cassette
tape, yet the I/O for component and composite analog is all 10-bit. This new unit
also supports Shot Mark handling, and UMID read/write capability. The SDI I/O is per
SMPTE 259M, with 4 channels (2 pairs) of Digital Audio I/O per AES/EBU (suporting Data
Audio/Data Non-Audio). Analog longitudinal and AFM audio playback form Betacam SP is
possible. Other features include: Digital Audio Jog Sound, Variable Speed Playback. DMC Functionality. Memory Card Slot for Memory Stick User File Media. 10-Bit A-D and D-A video path. 20-Bit Digital Audio, Built-in Analog Composite Video Input. Optional BKMW-104 Upconverter with selectable 1080i/59.94 or 720p/59.94 SMPTE292M (see Option Notes below). RS422, RS232. The DVWM2000 differs from the DVW2000 primarily in that select multi-format and legacy playback is possible of analog Betacam (oxide), Betacam (metal particle) SP, SX, and IMX recordings. The other differences are subtle, such as the 8F capstan lock capability of the DVW-M2000 versus only the 4F capstan lock capability of the DVW-2000. Consult with Sony and VTP for more detailed information. |

Cassette. The predecessor to this unit was the DVW-500. The DVW-2000 differs

differences in the DVW-M2000 (see above for more information). SDI I/O SMPTE 259M. Digital Audio I/O AES/EBU. Digital Audio Jog Sound, Variable Speed Playback. DMC Functionality.
