Sony JH Series Players
Note - Introduced in 2003, the Sony JH Series Compact Players offer a powerful combination of features and capabilities to act as a desktop feeder for non-linear, logging, or playback viewing applications.  The HDCAM JH Series, however, should not be confused with the standard definition J Series.   Each unit in the series offers a different playback compatibility, so "choose wisely".  The units are designed with limited serial control for convenience only, and the units cannot be used for linear synchronized editing.  These units at one time were going to be called the J4 Series from Sony Broadcast, but like the standard definition J series, they ship with their own small desktop stand for vertical mounting.

Configuration Options:
(See Options)
Power Cord
(required, not included)
(ordered as a Part)

Notes: Down Conversion with pull-down (in 23.98PD mode standard play speed playback) is built-In.  Equipped with HD-SDI and SDI outputs (both with embedded audio).   Accomodates both small and large cassettes.  Equipped with HD analog Y/Pb/Pr component output. NTSC or PAL (system playback and tape frequency depending) composite video output from both BNC and RCA output connectors.  RGB computer display interface (at XGA 1024x768 resolution letter-boxed to 1024x577 pixels in the image center).   LTC Timecode output.  Reference Input.  TC Character Superimposing Capability.  Tele-File Handling (requires optional TeleFile label MLB-1M-100 and Optional Video Logging Software JZ-1).  V-ANC output is not supported.  Additional limitations may apply.

Down-Convert Aspect Ratios:
Letterbox of 16:9, 14:9, 13:9.  Edge-Crop (h crop + - 120). Squeeze.

Setup on/off for SD output.

This Unit operates at 3 different base system frequency tape playback speeds, as follows:
HDCAM: 1080/29.97 Hz: 96.7mm/s (PsF or Interlace source)
HDCAM: 1080/25 Hz: 80.7mm/s (PsF or Interlace source)
HDCAM CineAlta: 1080/23.98(PD)/24 Hz: Approx. 77.4 mm/s (PsF or Interlace source)
Shuttle Mode is
±21X, Jog Mode is ±1X
Servo Lock is 1 Second or less (from Standby on
)

System Frequency Select: 29.97/25/24/23.98/23.98PD.  This unit is currently capable of slewing picture playback between 23.98, 24, and 25 Hz, allowing for a PAL picture output from a 23.98 or 24 frame Master CineAlta tape (for some slew speed changes, however, there may be muted audio output, or other differences compared to the HDW-F500 studio VTR).  Any of these specifications may change without notice.
