XDCAM HD Dual Layer Media Camcorder The new Dual Layer Media PDW-F355L XDCAM High Definition Camcorder incorporates three 1/2" Progressive 1.5M SuperHAD CCDs for image capture. Using PFD-50DLA 50GB media, recording times are substantially increased, with up to 145 Minutes of 35Mb/s XDCAM HD compressed High Definition recording. Additionally, this camcorder can trigger via HD-SDI, the Sony PDW-F75 Dual Layer capable desktop recorder, to essentially mirror what the camera was recording. New Features to the PDW-F355 include the ability to increase recording time using Dual Layer PFD-50DLA Media, or continue to use Single Layer Media formatted as XDCAM HD or DVCAM; 24PsF via HD-SDI Output (PDW-F350L added forced pulldown); DVCAM Mode 10 Second Memory Cache Function added; Shutter angle setting available for shutter speed; LCD monitor "under-scan" mode; Supports special Record Trigger sent over HD-SDI to PDWF75; Downconverter EE Mode and PB Mode with Edge Crop/Letter Box/Squeeze; 24PsF (48i) Genlock; Memory Stick Pro Media (Up to 2GB) is supported. This innovative camcorder uses a traditional BVFV20 2.0 inch monochrome viewfinder and has a built-in 3.5 inch color LCD monitor as well. The compression system for HD utilizes 1080 MPEG-2 Main Profile at High Level-1440 long-GOP encoding choices in variable bit rates (18 and 35 Mb/s) or 25Mb/s constant bit rate recording. The PDW-F355L offers a choice of 59.94/50i or true progressive 23.98P/25P/29.97P capture in HD to internal XDCAM media without pulldown, and the camcorder can be Genlocked. Additionally, the playback from the internal media drive and the live input can be switched in the vertical interval by the operator, for such applications as a remote live and playback station, for media events. Further, the camcorder can interface to the optional RM-B150 and RM-B750 Remote Control Units via an optional 8-pin control cable. Special Recording Capability on PDW-F350L Camcorder. Selectable special frame rates from 3.9 to 59.94 fps are also available on the PDW-F355L Camcorder, in 1 fps increments in the 18 and 35 Mb/s compressed HD rates*. Slow shutter is also available for beautiful blur effects (up to a 64 frame accumulation). Interval Recording can be set for time lapse effects. The PDW-F355L has a separate Time Code input and output connector. Variable frame rates use either 23.98 fps time code, 25 fps, or 29.97 depending on the mode selected. *Note: at lower vertical resolution than in normal capturing mode when capturing 31-60 fps in 23.98P/29.97P or 26-50 fps in 25P. Thumbnail Search and Scene Selection. The built-in 3.5" color LCD screen on the camera enables thumbnail search and scene selection functionality. These functions enable quick random access to each clip and the capability of creating a scene selection list. Selected clips can be played back seamlessly out of the camcorders and decks according to the list, in a non-linear, or random fashion. Proxy AV. The PDW-F355L creates and stores low-resolution 2Mb/s MPEG-4 standard definition video/audio* proxy stored into disc media along with the high-resolution video/audio essence recording as part of the .MXF file format. Metadata is also supported (including date/time/location and edit list "scripts"). *Note: Proxy audio is A-law 4ch/2ch 8-bit 8kHz High Definition Digital Connectivity in the PDW-F355L. HD-SDI output with 23.98PsF capability is standard on the PDW-F355L camcorder (SMPTE 292M High Definition with embedded audio, MPEG HD mode only) with native 23.98 frame rates output as PsF (no more forced pulldown to 59.94 Hz on output from the camcorder). The PDW-F355L provides an I.LINKŪ interface (6-pin) for .MXF FAM (File Access Mode) or standard definition AV/C DV stream output (HD downconvert to DV). *Note: there is standard definition SDI output available in the PDW-F355L, but there is no analog component output available. Digital audio is output through the embedded HD-SDI path as 4ch or 2ch (16 bits/48kHz), or through the iLink port (DV output is 4ch 16 bits/48kHz locked). Analog output is via a 5-pin Male XLR connector requiring an optional breakout cable (not supplied). There is no ethernet interface on the camcorder. Other Dual Layer Products for improved work flow. The optional Dual Layer capable PDW-F75 XDCAM HD "deck" with an optional PDBK-101 Gig Ethernet Board supports fast network based file transfer to a PC or MAC, or the optional Dual Layer capable PDW-U1 USB 2.0 reader drive can be used to support NLE injest. VEGAS Pro8 XDCAM Enhanced Workflow. Optional Vegas Pro 8 software enhances the existing FAM (File Access Mode) and all current modes of HD and SD import and render are supported, with native .MXF editing. |
