Sony HDV™ Professional VTR, HDV-2 interlace formats to/from HD-SDI. This new "A" model is like the predecessor HVR-1500 but adds HD-SDI-SDI (selectable) input/output.  It retains switchable interlaced recording and playback in both 60i and 50i DV formats (note: in HDV mode, editing capabilities are not available, and even though the model has "A" in its part number, playback or record of Sony's HDV-2 Progressive formats is not supported - see the HVR-M35U, HVR-M25AU, or HVR-M15AU if you need Sony HDV-2 Progressive record and playback support).

This unit is not recommended for HDV-2 progressive mode playback of Sony HVR-V1U 24p recordings (output may be converted to interlaced even on the iLink).   Down-conversion capability with edge crop or squeeze (no letterbox) on SDI or iLink output (iLink if available for the supported signal type, see limitations on 720p as there is no iLink output for HDV-1 playback).  There is no aspect ratio change for the analog outputs (the output would be squeeze mode, no letterbox, edge crop).  2.7 inch (viewable area measured diagonally) LCD front panel monitor with 3 display modes. Built-in audio and video test signal generator. Tape dubbing capability. Assignable Button (x1). HD-SDI input and output includes embedded audio and TC.  720p30 HDV-1 playback is output as 720p60 on the HD-SDI out with 2 CH AES (but additional limitations may apply, such as no output via the iLink connector), otherwise, 720p HDV-1 is not supported.
